The McLaren Elva is inspired by the open-cockpit race cars developed by Bruce McLaren in the 1960s. Its name, "Elva," comes from the French phrase "elle va," meaning "she goes." The Elva pays tribute to the brand's core values of speed and lightness, weighing only 1,148 kg. Due to a lack of staff and finances in the 1960s, the production of these models (McLaren M1A, McLaren M1B, and McLaren M1C) was outsourced to the British automaker Elva.
