Today, I’m not going to present a car for sale on our marketplace, but rather an auction. Indeed, a 2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in Munich, Germany, on November 23, 2024. This German Speedster will go under the hammer with an estimated price between €780,000 and €1,080,000. Produced in only 88 units, the V12 Speedster stands out as one of Aston Martin's rarest cars.

The Aston Martin V12 Speedster I’m going to present to you is the 61st of the 88 produced. It has very low mileage, with only 46 km, and a finish in Aston Martin Racing Green. This finish pays tribute to the famous DBR1, victorious at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959, with white Clubsport touches on the body.

Aston Martin V12V12 Speedster: a tribute to the DBR1

The Aston Martin V12 Speedster, inspired by the brand’s 1959 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is a tribute to the DBR1, the sports car that gave Aston Martin its sole outright victory in that legendary race. Shared by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori, the DBR1 remains an icon of automotive history, and this heritage is reflected in the V12 Speedster’s design. The sensation is the same, only the era has changed.

The exterior design of the V12 Speedster evokes the lines of its illustrious racing predecessor, combining aerodynamics and elegance in true Aston Martin fashion. As an interesting detail, each car spent more than 50 hours at Aston Martin's paint facility to ensure a perfect finish. This specific model is also equipped with white Clubsport circles on the sides.

Aston Martin V12V12 Speedster interior

The interior of the V12 Speedster features Conker brown leather, with Viridian green leather and Caithness leather accents. The interior is minimalist yet luxurious, designed to put the driver at the center of the experience, much like the DBR1. A particularly interesting feature of this V12 Speedster is the inclusion of matching Aston Martin Racing Green helmets.

Aston Martin V12V12 Speedster: performance worthy of the DBR1

At the heart of the Aston Martin V12 Speedster lies a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, capable of producing 700 horsepower. This engine, borrowed from the DBS Superleggera, guarantees impressive performance. With this powertrain, the car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 318 km/h.

The engine is paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels. Additionally, the car is equipped with a limited-slip differential, which further enhances its handling capabilities, especially when driving at high speed in corners. The Speedster’s roofless and windshield-free design also plays a key role in its performance.

Aston Martin V12 Speedster: a collector’s item

With its rarity, its illustrious heritage linked to the DBR1, and its performance, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster is a model deserving of a place in any collector’s garage. With only 88 units produced and its low mileage (46 km), this car’s appeal is even greater. This model has remained with the same family since its initial purchase.

For collectors, the V12 Speedster offers more than just exclusivity; it represents a piece of Aston Martin’s history. The link to the DBR1 and its Speedster look make this car a centerpiece in any collection.

A quick look at the price: when it was launched, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster was priced around €880,000. Also, note that on LuxuryPulse, we currently have 7 Aston Martin V12 Speedsters for sale, with prices ranging from €850,000 to €1.3 million. This price variation depends on several factors, such as mileage, options, and customizations chosen by the owners.

Investment prospects

This is not investment advice.

Although the hypercar market is subject to fluctuations, the V12 Speedster seems to currently hold up well against depreciation. Its rarity, history, design, performance, and V12 engine could make it a long-term collectible vehicle, potentially able to maintain or even increase its value. So keep an eye on the auction for this V12 Speedster next month to see how much it sells for. Will it set a new record? Stay tuned to HYPERLUXE, and we’ll keep you updated.
