Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG for sale

There are cars that make history, and the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK-GTR is undoubtedly one of them. Today, I am excited to present a model that is looking for a wealthy collector. This exceptional Mercedes has only covered... 100 km in 25 years (which makes it highly attractive to collectors). No price has been announced, but note that in 2018, at Monterey, RM Sotheby’s sold one for 4.415 million euros. In 2023, the same auction house offered two CLK-GTR models, with a 2002 Roadster selling for $10,235,000! Unfortunately, the Coupé version did not find a buyer. We estimate this Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR to be worth more than 9 million euros. So, let’s dive into this chapter of the FIA GT1 Championship and racing car history.

We estimate this Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR to be worth more than 9 million euros. Only 100 km and number 5 of 25 units.

Competing with thethe Porsche 911 GT1 and the McLaren F1

Designed to compete with the formidable Porsche 911 GT1 and McLaren F1, the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR was not just a mere track prototype. To comply with FIA homologation regulations, Mercedes had to produce 25 road-going versions of the CLK GTR, of which only 20 took the form of coupés and 5 as roadsters. Each of these was assembled in Affalterbach by HWA AG (formerly AMG), equipped with minimal but refined features such as air conditioning and a leather or Alcantara interior.

CLK GTR: BrutalBrutal performance

Under the hood lies a 6.9-liter V12 engine, producing an astonishing 612 horsepower. This engine allows the CLK GTR to reach 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 320 km/h. With its carbon fiber monocoque chassis and honeycomb aluminum structure, along with a double wishbone suspension, the CLK GTR is designed to deliver race-car performance while remaining (somewhat) civilized for the road.

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR: AA 90s Design

With a length of 4,855 mm, a width of 1,950 mm, and a height of only 1,100 mm, the CLK GTR is an imposing machine, with every curve and wing designed to maximize aerodynamics and high-speed stability. The carbon fiber bodywork, massive air intakes, and sculpted rear wing reflect its racing pedigree, making it a true automotive masterpiece.

An exceptional modelmodel with less than 100 km on the odometer

The model offered here is number 5 out of the 25 produced and one of the 20 coupés built. This vehicle stands out due to its exceptional state of preservation, showing less than 100 km on the odometer since it left the factory in 1999. Delivered new in Germany, this car comes with its original service book, a complete set of luggage, and a COC (Certificate of Conformity). Recently, it underwent a full service by Mechatronik, a renowned specialist in the restoration and maintenance of classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR: uniqueunique history

After being delivered in 1999, this CLK GTR spent most of its life in the hands of German collectors. In 2007, it was offered for auction in Monaco by Bonhams, but surprisingly, no buyer stepped forward at that time. It was then carefully stored and maintained until it changed ownership in 2013 and joined its current owner in 2017. Since then, it has been meticulously preserved and has never been driven, maintaining its status as a brand-new car.

CLK-GTR: A PrestigiousPrestigious investment

Today, the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is one of the most sought-after and exclusive hypercars in the world. Its rarity, performance, and status as a road-legal racing car make it a coveted investment. The value of these vehicles has increased significantly over time. When it was launched in 1998, the CLK GTR was priced at around 1.5 million USD. In 2018, a unit was sold at auction for 4.515 million USD, and current estimates easily exceed 9 million euros for the best-preserved models.

Recent examples include a 2002 CLK GTR Roadster, estimated between 10 and 12 million euros, as well as a 1998 coupé estimated between 8.5 and 10 million USD. Another estimate values a 1998 coupé between 7.2 and 8.5 million euros.
